Telecommunications in neurosurgery
Sending graphic images via Internet is no wonder today. Still, Henry Marsh and Igor Kurilets were pioneers in using this method in neurosurgery. In 1998, with the financial help of the Embassy of Great Britain in Ukraine and the Ambassador Roy Rive, they started a regular telecommunication connection Kyiv-London for consulting the patients with neurosurgical pathology.
This service, free of charge for Ukrainian patients, has been functioning for more than ten years. Hundreds of severely ill people were consulted, a lot of specialist doctors conferences carried out concerning the tactics of treatment of the severely ill patients with different neurosurgical pathologies.
